Spurs point could keep us up

March 7th, 2011

MICK McCarthy said the point his side collected could prove vital come the end of the season.

“It could be a valuable point,” he said.

“It might be a record number of points which goes down this season.

“It’s always going to be hard but it might be particularly hard on someone who will have a significant number of points and still go down.

“And it might be one point or one goal that keeps someone up. Every point is a prisoner and I thought that was a fantastic one for us – we played well and earned the point. We might have won it and might have lost it and there were some crazy things going on and some fantastic things going on.

“It was a terrific performance. It was an exciting game, it’s never anything but here!”

McCarthy joked that frayed nerves were taking their toll: “I’m only 35 you know, it’s the game that’s doing this to me! We shouldn’t have to score four goals to win a game but they are terrific are Tottenham.

“I am happy with a point, especially after losing a goal after half-time which was down to our gross stupidity. We should have put it in behind them and had enough opportunities to clear it and we didn’t.

“We passed it square and then we didn’t clear it and we got punished, which happens in this league with what was another great strike.”
