Doncaster Rovers enquire about Wolves striker Andy Keogh

July 9th, 2010

Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O’Driscoll has confirmed he has made an enquiry about the availability of Wolves striker Andy Keogh

Rovers confirmed the signing of Billy Sharp from Sheffield United earlier this week and the Donny boss is now looking into the possibility of reuniting him with his former Scunthorpe United team-mate Keogh.

The Wolves man has fallen out of favour at Molineux and with the club having signed Steven Fletcher this summer, it would appear they have more attacking options than they need.

Rovers boss O’Driscoll said, as quoted by the Press Association: “To put Andy and Billy together again is something to consider.

“You talk to a lot of clubs about players without making a concrete offer and we have done that with Andy Keogh.

“It will all depend on what Andy’s situation is with Wolves. He knows a lot of our players and he is certainly someone who interests us.”

Sharp and Keogh are still good friends from their time at Scunthorpe together and the former believes Wolves boss Mick McCarthy may be prepared to let the Republic of Ireland striker leave on loan.

“Keogh is one of my good mates. He has mentioned it to me, he wants to play football like me and Doncaster are interested in him,” said Sharp.

“I think if Mick McCarthy would let him go out on loan then he will come here. If he does come here then it would be a brilliant addition to the squad.”
